About the course
An advanced and practical course focused on the use of Point Of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in the assessment of acutely ill and injured patients.
This course aims at helping delegates whom, after being Level 1 accredited and scanning on a regular basis, are now in need of enhancing their ultrasound scanning skills on competencies that go beyond the Level 1 ultrasound accreditation for EM.
A course designed for Emergency Medicine Physicians, Acute Physicians, Anesthetists, Intensivists and any clinician involved in the assessment and management of acute illness and injury; suitable for Consultants, SASGs and STs who are experienced in the use of POCUS, have done the Level 1 USS Course and have been accredited in the four level1 competencies by attending a Finishing School or at their place of work.
You will learn and practise USS techniques in:, Thoracic US, Renal, Hepatobiliary, Focused ECHO, MSK, RUSH scan, eFAST, Venous Duplex Scanning, Foreign Bodies, and some Procedural US skills
The opportunity to scan on models and phantoms receiving continuous feedback in line with core competences and assessment criteria, opportunities to learn from others and very importantly, an opportunity to further improve your ultrasound teaching skills for the benefit of supporting and supervising colleagues at your place of work.
The programme has been compiled bearing in mind the responses to a recent survey undertaken by number of Infomed delegates and faculty from previous Infomed ultrasound course.
Delegate numbers for this course are strictly limited
Once registered, delegates will have free access to slides from previous Level1 and Level 2 Infomed courses
These two days of practice are based on the Practice Sessions of the highly successful EM US Core (Level 1) Finishing School where over 400 candidates have been through the accreditation process for sign-off.
At the course, delegates will:
- practice only and have no lectures!
- do lots of practice in groups guided by experienced, skilled, helpful and approachable tutors
- be taught by different faculty at each station and get their mistakes corrected on the spot
- receive plenty of good pointers and tips
- be guided by a friendly, enthusiastic, experienced and knowledgeable faculty
- rotate in groups through skills stations covering all competencies listed in the programme
- be given continuous personalised feedback in line with core competences and assessment criteria, plus opportunities to learn from your peers
- Undertake MOCK assessments at the end of day two with immediate feedback
Very importantly, this course will provide delegates with the opportunity for reviewing their skills at informal assessments at the end of the second day. In addition, something that is very much in demand, you will improve your skills in formally assessing your peers’ competencies back at your trust.
